The subject of US-Japan relationship is of the highest importance and of substantial international concern, not least in the UK. The more is communicated about Japan's changing attitudes in this context, the better.
On the Kawai paper:
The concept of aid-giving for reasons other than national self-interest is well worth continuing exploration and discussion.
My reaction to first access to these commmunications is very positive; the two cited above are conveniently succinct and stimulating but also raise issues that merit continuing consideration in depth.
