The 2006 General Meeting of IAP2M (International Association of Project & Program Management) was held at Nippon Institute of Technology in Jinbocho, Tokyo, on the final day of the fiscal year 2006 for IAP2M. After a brief introductory address by IAP2M Chairman Kunio Yoshida (see the picture), activity/financial reports for the past year and project/budget proposals for the second year, from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007, were presented and approved by participating members at the meeting. Some of the notable points are as follow.
The actual membership for the first year (152 regular members, 18 corporate members, 5 student members and 2 honorary members) was far short of the initial target, and a more realistic target (additional 100 regular members, 12 corporate members and 55 student members) is set for the second year.
While there was one (two-day) research conference held in spring for the first year, two conferences (one-day each in spring and in autumn) are being planned for 2007. The spring conference is to be held at Nippon Institute of Technology on April 20 (F), 10:00-17:00, where the main theme is "Integration of IT and Management." For the autumn conference, the most likely date is September 7 (F).
The IAP2M journal is scheduled to be published in December, 2006, and an English-language journal is also being planned. International activities are well underway, including Special P2M Seminars in Taiwan to be held in January 23-26, 2007. In this connection, it was pointed out that English summaries of the last three special seminars on international P2M issues were posted on GLOCOM Platform as follows:
1) Prof. Ellie Okada on Intellectual Property Management:
2) Prof. Noritake Kobayashi on Challenges for Business Schools:
3) Mr. Koji Ohta on Securitization and Prof. Toshinori Negishi on Intermodal Transportation:
After the general meeting, Mr. Masaaki Horiguchi gave a special lecture on "P2M and Project Finance: Business Value and Risk Management" for about an hour and a half, which was followed by a networking party among participants.
