Summary:
As a key person in developing Daikanyama as one of the most attractive districts in Tokyo, Mr. Kinji Iwahashi emphasizes the human-scale, slow development of the Daikanyama community in contrast to such large-scale, fast developments as Marunouchi Building, Roppongi Hills, Shinagawa and Shiodome in Tokyo. The new concept of GCC (Gross Community Cool) is introduced to identify the Daikanyama-way of community development, which nurtures a cultural and creative lifestyle for a sustainable community. The importance of Daikanyama's CAN (Community Area Network) as a means of integrating real and virtual community to enlarge GCC is also pointed out.
